Edward Cooke wins national Child-Inclusive Mediation Award at the National Mediation Awards 2024

Edward Cooke was awarded the Child Inclusive Mediator Award at the National Mediation Awards, at a prestigious ceremony held at the House of Commons on Thursday 12 December.

As a collaboration between the Civil Mediation Council, Family Mediation Council and College of Mediators, the bi-annual National Mediation Awards celebrate excellence amongst commercial, civil, family and community mediators, mediation trainers and providers.

The awards were once again hosted by mediator, former BBC News Anchor and presenter Joanna Gosling. The judges shared the following reflections on Edward on announcing the award:

“As an experienced child-inclusive mediator, the winner creates a tailored, non-adversarial approach to help families navigate their changing circumstances in the most constructive way possible.  They are a passionate advocate for child-inclusive mediation, through online content, delivering training, and writing for national, local and legal press as well as campaigning for family justice. In a very competitive category, the judges were particularly impressed by the winner’s pursuit of excellence in their own practice and within their organisation as well as championing CIM across wider legal and social landscapes.”

Edward’s expertise in child-inclusive mediation earned him a place on the shortlist alongside highly esteemed mediators Leah Caldwell and Mabel Edge. He was thrilled to be named the winner among such distinguished peers. Edward commented:

“I am truly honoured to have won the Child-Inclusive Mediator Award at the National Mediation Awards 2024.

Ensuring that children’s voices are heard during the process of separation and divorce is at the heart of modern family law practice and underpins everything we do at Edward Cooke Family Law.

This recognition underscores the importance of helping families achieve the best possible outcomes for everyone impacted by separation, divorce and other family matters. I am grateful for this acknowledgment and for the opportunity to continue advocating for and continuing to evolve our child-focused approaches."
