Southern Family Law Conference returns for a second year

20 March 2025
Southern Family Law Conference 2025 Guildford, Surrey

We are delighted to launch the Southern Family Law Conference 2025, which will take place on Thursday 19 June 2025 at The Guildford Pavilion.

Returning for its second year, the conference will provide learning and development opportunities, focussed on "Hot topics and future trends in family law".

Delegates will hear from our eminent speaker line up on areas including financial, children, modern families and international cases, as well as neurodiversity in family law and displaced grief in the divorce process. As well as engaging content, there will be plenty of opportunities to network throughout the day.

Edward Cooke commented:

“We are thrilled to have assembled a stellar line up of speakers at our second conference in June and hope you will join us for a day of learning and development to explore the very latest changes and future considerations for family law practitioners. It’s a great opportunity to step out of our day-to-day practice to learn, reflect and connect.”

Areas Covered

We will hear from expert speakers, exploring the latest trends and hot topics in family law. The day will conclude with a debate: "This House believes that the reference to undue hardship as the test for bringing spousal maintenance to an end needs reform in view of our societal understanding of the long-term impacts of domestic abuse and other welfare considerations". The day will be followed by a networking reception on the roof terrace of The Guildford Pavilion (weather permitting!) with refreshments and canapés.

Speakers will cover a range of topics in the following areas of practice:

-       What are the most important financial remedy cases you need to know about in 2025 and why?

-       Latest Developments in Private Law Children Work

-       Latest Developments in Modern Family Work

-       Family Law and Neurodiversity

-       Displaced Grief in the Divorce Process

-      The English court’s approach to European Marital property agreements (in view of BI v EN) and developments in Part III post Potanin.
