Jamilla is an Assistant Solicitor in our Brighton office who has experience in all areas of family law including divorce, financial settlements and private children matters.

Jamilla is a member of Resolution and a committed member of YRes which is Resolution’s network of family law professionals up to 10 years PQE. Jamilla firmly believes that a non-confrontational approach to family law issues will produce better outcomes for separating families and their children.

Career history

Jamilla obtained a Law degree-LLB (Hons) at Oxford Brookes University, following which she attained her Legal Practice Course alongside a MSc in Law, Business and Management at the University of Law in Guildford.

She spent over 4 years at a leading regional firm in Sussex, starting her career as a paralegal specialising in family law and quickly obtaining a training contract with the firm. Jamilla joined Edward Cooke in October 2024 and is eager to train in all forms of Non-Court Dispute Resolution.

Areas of Work

Jamilla is experienced in dealing with all areas of family law work, ranging from nuptial agreements to issues arising on the breakdown of relationships, including financial issues in connection with divorce and separation and child arrangements.

She appreciates that every person’s background and experiences are unique, which is why she thinks it is important to tailor her approach to suit her clients’ needs and goals. Whether it be discussing divorce or dissolution, where the child(ren) are ging to live, or a pre-nuptial agreement, Jamilla will take the time to really listen to what each client is saying, to find out what they are hoping to achieve. Whichever direction a client chooses to go in, she will support them with respect, empathy and objectivity to achieve the best outcome, whilst managing expectations.

Outside of Work

Outside of work Jamilla enjoys exploring the countryside with her dog and spending time in her garden, growing all sorts of colourful flowers.
