Opening of a Nightingale court is ‘hugely symbolic for Chichester’
22 July 2020
Edward Cooke heralds the opening of the UK’s first Nightingale court, to be situated in Chichester, as a hugely symbolic moment for the city.
Ten 'Nightingale courts' will be opened in locations through England and Wales to help manage the backlog of cases arising from the closure of courts through the pandemic. Edward Cooke talked to the Chichester Observer about the proposals as well as a recommendation to, as a next step, re-establish the former crown and county court as a permanent Court to enable better access to justice in West Sussex.
